Into the Wild

Let's not exaggerate... I wasn't in the middle of the jungle but I did go and explore the mountains nearby. Describe the weather? Perhaps a little windy. I took advantage of this cooler day to put this dress on.

Dress: Zara (SALES)
Belt: Esprit
Shoes: Bensimon
*cheeky face*
In The Pointed Issue, I told you I'd prepare an outfit to coordinate my shoes. Well here's a little hint: I'm not wearing the so-called-shoes. Why? One, they're not made for rock-climbing (so are Bensimons but it's a step closer to a comfy pair of hiking sneakers), and, two, because I simply forgot them back at home. Oops!^^ So, today, I ask you to use your imagination to see how the shoes go well with the dress.
I added this belt to make my dress less baggy and it also ended up doing this ancient greek dress effect (which I think is quite summery). I had to tie my Esprit belt in a knot though; It's way too big for me.

The French Touch ♫

Earlier today, I was thinking about this famous 'French Touch'. I started to list all the french DJs I knew (whilst I was listening to Daft Punk): David Guetta, Martin Solveig, C2C, Daft Punk & I'm pretty sure there are more... I then decided I'd write a post based on this theme (here it is!). So you must be asking yourself, "Why are you wearing a T-Shirt from a Black Eyed Peas concert?"
"It's linked," I answer you. Indeed, the Black Eyed Peas are not part of this 'French Touch' but their career was relaunched by it and thanks to David Guetta (in 2009 with 'I Gotta Feeling').

Shorts: Forever 21 (old)
T-Shirt: Black Eyed Peas concert (old)
Shoes: Primark
Nail polish: Tide - Topshop
Where I am situated at the moment gets very hot. Like super-duper hot. It's  obnoxious! I have to go for the lightest and simplest outfits ever! This outfit lets me breathe and gets me all comfy for a new, cruel, boiling day.
P.S: Sorry for the bad quality photos; My Nikon thought it would be fun to run out of batteries just before taking pictures...

Liebster Award ♥

Eek! I'm so psyched about this! Thank you so much Rebekah for nominating me! Go check her blog out, guys!
There are so many different versions for this award, so I took the one given to me (#sonotmainstream).

STEPS:
  • Answer the 10 questions given to you.
  • Write 10 questions for your nominees.
  • Choose 5-10 nominees who have under 200 followers.
  • Tell them they've been nominated on one of their blog posts.
1. My answers...

1. What do you love about blogging?
I love the fact that I can share my passion with other people and get feedback on what I write about.
2. What is your favorite thing in the whole wide world?
If New York counts as a 'thing' it's definitely my favourite. I used to live there and miss it tons.
3. If you could meet anyone who would it be and why?
My great-grandparents because they were obsessed with their time (the 1920's = my Golden Age), they had a hat factory, and my grandmother's told me loads of other cool stories about them.
4. Do you have a prized possession? If so what is it?
My Nikon is very dear to me but so are all my magazines...
5. The best holiday you have been on and why?
Aah! There are so many! But if I had to pick, it would be Mexico because it's so beautiful.
6. If you had a movie about your life, what actor would play you and why?
Jennifer Aniston even though she's way too good for me.
7. Have you fulfilled any childhood dreams? If so what?
Not yet, still too young for those type of accomplishments ^^
8. Is the glass half empty of half full?
I'm more of a half-empty-glass kind of person but when it comes to my bog I always see things in positive (if that makes sense).
9. Whats your favorite word?
'Burgle'. Not that I like the meaning of it but it's pronunciation is so weird. Makes me laugh.
10. What is one beauty product that you could not live without?
Garnier BB Cream. No hesitation.

2. My questions...
1. Link and/or put a photo of a fashion item you've been craving for this season.
2. Gold or Silver?
3. Beauty product you cannot live without?
4. What would you do if you had 24h left to live and all the money in the world?
5. Favourite colour?
6. Favourite drink?
7. What is your greatest accomplishment yet?
8. What is your best childhood memory?
9. What is the origin of your blog's name? How did you come up with it?
10. Your opinion about the Royal Baby's name? (George Alexander Louis)

3. The nominees:
- Raquel in the City
- FASHION ELEN
- Keep it Chic
- Lucy Division
- GIRLS TALK...
[I'll add some more later]

°The Bubbly Touch°

Some days, I am capable of wearing the most colourful and rainbow-ish clothes ever. Then there are other days where I stay dull and go for a completely black outfit (which is most of the time). But I decided today was not the day to be all 'sad'; So I picked the most bubbling-in-colours outfit I could find! Obviously I gave myself boundaries or else I'd end up looking like a child who got lost in Willy Wonka's factory. I think I found the right balance, though..

Top: Up in Camden
Shorts: Roxy (old)

Bikini: Banana Moon
Nail polish (same one below): Marine Scene -Topshop

The Smurf Effect

Just before ending this post I would just like to tell you how amazing Topshop nail polish is! It's cheap and, yes, it does n't last a month but it's still great quality. Plus Topshop is always offering these great colours (mine has this Smurf effect). So if you've never tried one before, go for it!۵

Saskia (left): No7 Stay Perfect [red]
Zoe (top): Heart of Gold, Topshop
Georgia (bottom): Shirelle MAC
- Zoe
Argh! Late post... Sorry...
Earlier this week, I asked my friends to choose one nail varnish out of all the recent ones I'd bought.
I (Saskia) picked this satin-touched red nail varnish. I wanted to explore this kind of glitzy, glamorous rouge. I thought it was going to be a bit darker but it turned out to be rosier. This nail polish is very delicate though (went for a dip in the river, came out, half of it was gone).
Zoe opted for Heart of Gold by Topshop; "I LIKE GOLD. But seriously, this stuff is great for tanned skin!" True that! It just glows.
Georgia brought her own and went for her Shirelle MAC. She chose this one because "the cherry-red flatters my oh-so-pale british skin".

☾⋆ ZEN

"We didn't want to look back, but to do something new"   - Viktor {Horsting} & Rolf {Snoeren}
Last week, for the Couture Week, Viktor & Rolf were celebrating their 20th anniversary. Instead of showing off their signature looks or creating a floral and jovial show, the designers went for a new concept. They chose the theme "Mindfulness" which led to representing a Zen garden with twenty models (one for each year). They wore gowns specially designed for the 'rock position' they'd adopt during the so-called-catwalk. Indeed, each model represented a rock in the Zen garden. Pure art.

Saskia dreams of flip-flops

HAVAIANAS

You've been seeing a lot of my feet lately, nah? Well, here's another picture of them presenting you my dream flip-flops. Yes, I have been dreaming of getting Havaianas since I was 8 years old and today was the day! They're certainly not the most stylish ones out there but, ay, I love 'em❣

My -Summer- Beauty Essentials

Today, I selected three products that I just could not live without during summer.

  1. Vichy Skincare Oil: Looking for those summer-glazed legs? This oil is perfect. I've been using it for a few years now and I've never ceased loving it.
  2. N°7 Foaming Cleanser: First thing I like about this product? It's foam. I absolutely adore foam. Secondly, it's a quite refreshing and very effective face wash! So I can put aside my Sweet Like Cinnamon mask and use this one instead.
  3. Incognito Mosquito Spray: Believe it or not, the bottle isn't very glamorous but it will totally help you survive and stay beautiful during these two months of mosquito-biting.

Ciao bellas!

The Pointed Issue

Everyone knows about the tremendous pointed tips trend. Well, I decided to go with the flow, today (perhaps like a million of other people). I got these navy leathery ones at Zara.
I won't be wearing them everyday. I personally think they are very formal for someone my age. So they'll be worn for 'special occasions'.
Shoes: Zara

[ I'll try posting a few pictures of them in an outfit  ]

DIY Elastic Belt

Elastic belts are the hardest thing to find, yet they are so simple to make!

You'll need:

  • Elastic ribbon (I took 1m of it)
  • 2 Pins
  • 1 Needle (take the thickest one you own)
  • Thread (try to take the same color as your elastic)
  • White pencil/chalk
  • Fabric scissors
  • Bikini buckle (you can find these in many sewing shops)

1. Put the elastic ribbon around your waste tightly. Take the white pencil to mark your size and cut!

Tip: Out of the two straps the smallest one was my size, but I took the biggest one by precaution.                              2. Take your bikini buckle and attach it to the ribbon with a pin like in the picture below:

Tip: Take an old rubber cut out two cubes and put it on the sharp end of your pins. Why? Simply because you should try your belt on before sewing - and trust me you do not want to be 'poked' by these things...

3. You can now take your thread and needle and start sewing. When you're done, cut off those ugly threads sticking out of the knots you made.

4. AND (promise you, this is the last step), wear the correct outfit to accompany your new homemade belt! (I would've worn a dress with it but the dresses I had didn't go well with my belt )

This tutorial was inspired by Bella Mishella's video

✯ Clutches ✯

That's my Tumblr on the screen (:

It's summer... you have no pockets and you need something to hold your iPhone, your money and credit card? Clutches. Wearing a dress or a pair of pocketless (if that's a word) shorts? Clutches. Don't want to carry a huge bag around? Clutches
I guess 'Clutches' is the answer to everything, especially when it comes to the hottest day in the year.
Urban Outfitters has been designing the perfect clutches for these situations. Their clutches are small but reliable. As you can see my iPhone fits perfectly into it, there's place for a few cards, and there's a pocket at the back to pop in some ca$h!
Got two of 'em ^^

Add the 'handle' if you don't want to hold it

Karlie Kloss

After my Fashion Idol, there's my favorite model (and you've already guessed who she is by the title). I've already mentioned her in a previous post.
American born but with danish roots, Karlie Kloss debuted her career in 2006 posing for Abercrombie & Fitch. She attracted attention notably during Dior and John Galliano catwalks:

She took these original yet quite simple poses, playing around with the clothes given to her. This made Karlie Kloss stick out from the crowd of 1m70 elegantly formed beings.
Then one thing led to another... She is, now, ruling the Fashion Week Catwalks (with Cara Delevingne) and poses for Donna Karan, Lacoste, Lanvin and Louis Vuitton's Alma bags.
I wish her the best,

P.S.: I am preparing quite a big post so in the meantime I'll be writing a lot of quick inspirational posts!

Shoreditch ☼

Summer has finally come in London, making a quite brutal entrance actually. I quickly snatched this opportunity of beautiful weather to go out for a walk in Shoreditch AND wear my new Urban Outfitters playsuit!
This year denim has been replaced by light cotton fabrics. Honestly, I prefer it this way; Those high-waisted-denim-almost-choking shorts were not my cup of tea.
The most popular suggestion to accompany this playsuit would be wearing a white plain tee, but once more the weather was far too hot for this option (plus I don't own a boring blank T-shirt). So I opted for a grey UniQlo tank top.
For the shoes? There's a variety! Almost anything can go with this playsuit. But be careful: I said almost. My selection: Bensimon, Converse, sandals, ankle boots...
- S.
I like posing with graffitis.

"Look closely, because the closer you think you are, the less you will actually see."
Yesterday, I went to see Now You See Me. The most twisted, epic, clever film I've ever seen so far. At each point of the film you suppose or try coming up in vain with a perfect ending to it. In fact, even the trailer is misleading!
Weirdly enough, my brain linked Now You See Me to the Nina Ricci Autumn/Winter 2013-2014 Catwalk. The darkness and main colours (black and red) of the fashion show had a magician-ish touch. And in parallel to a magic trick, your attention was pulled to the dresses and not the discrete details laying around. For example, the two pianists, the st stilettos, the simple makeup and pinned up sleek hair.
The models literally melted into the decor, even disappeared to me. The gowns floated down the aisle. There was a va-et-vient between formal wear and glamorous gowns, a mix of silky drapes and rigid pencil skirts.
Well, this is my opinion on the film and my interpretation of the catwalk. I'm pretty sure Peter Copping, artistic director of Nina Ricci, didn't expect such an interpretation on his runway.

My Fashion Idol ☬

Everyone has this one celebrity (or more) to whom they look up to style-wise. Well, mine's Elle Fanning. I've never watched any of her films or anything, but I've seen her in so many magazines and each time she is wearing something fabulous! She can pull anything off the hook. It's quite amazing.
Example: You know that one fashion rule "Don't wear too much baggy clothes together or else you'll look like a sack of potatoes"? Elle Fanning miraculously was able to defy this rule and look friggin' superb! What do you want... Life is unfair...

Just another dress ⚘ N°2

A few weeks ago, I wrote this post about my Urban Outfitters dress (Just another dress ⚘) and since then I've discovered a new way to wear it!
If you open it, throw in a tank top and shorts you've got a whole new outfit and even look. Well, the look doesn't change radically but there's certainly a difference. I think this outfit is great for a breezy yet summery day.
